Maintenance for Wood
- We recommend at least an annual recoat of the plaque for ongoing protection. This is literally a 15 minute process which requires rubbing down the surface with a very fine finishing paper followed by a coat of linseed oil applied with a cloth. This being done, the plaque will last indefinitely and the lettering and motifs will stay as good as new. The plaque will slightly darken with age, if no maintenance is carried out the wood will just weather slowly.

- Tree Plaque

Wall mounted plaques, brass fixings.

Woodland plaques and post
Posts are thick and are 45cm long. The plaques can be mounted as portrait or landscape. The post should be burried 25cm in the ground. The plaque is rear mounted and requires a screwdriver to secure.

Plaques are available is three sizes and two different kinds of wood. All plaques come with a ground stake.
Wall mounted plaques have brass fittings which allow it to be attached to a wall. Wooden plaques are suitable to use for tree or plant living memorials as well as for marking roadside accident sites. Using wood blends in with natural surroundings. If the stake is flush with the ground the memorial plaque does not stand out or detract from it's surroundings.
The Wood ...... A proof emailed prior to engraving
Oak is a popular wood for memorial plaques. It has a density of about 0.75 g/cm³, great strength and hardness, and is very resistant to insect and fungal attack because of its high tannin content. Oak has a very destinctive grain, these naturally come through on a plaque.

Beech is not as popular as the Oak for memorial plaques as it is less well known. The beech wood is closer grained and the wood itself is lighter in colour. The grain is smooth and does not stand out when engraved or sealed with oil or varnish.

Sapele is a dark wood with a close grain. It is an African Hardwood.

Maple is a light wood with varied grain. The grain does not clash with the engraving.
